I didn't want to but looks like I am going to have to install Windows on my mac via bootcamp - then i think the best way to do it is to use a product called VMWare Fusion, which will basically run windows in the background of Mac OS and allow me to run IE or the DVR windows software seamlessly without needing to dual boot. HomeSafe View For DVR-1590, DVR-1600, DVR-4480, DVR-4575, DVR-4580, DVR-4780, DVR-4980 & NVR-7450 Series DVRs & NVRs. So it seems that their DVR uses activex too - hence the requirement for Internet Explorer. This will work on any browser including safari and does not require the remote computer to download any type of programme. The second remote access possibility is a more basic system which allows you to view live static images fro the cameras either 4 cameras at a time or one at a time. To use this you need to be connected via internet explorer and so your Mac will need to do this using windows running on parallels. The first is a full function control panel which allows you to view live video feeds from your cameras, change settings on the DVR, review previously recorded footage and save footage to your viewing computer. Our CCTV DVR recorders have 2 different remote access possibilities. Thanks - I just emailed them to ask - but then in their q&a section I found this.
